Who is this course for?

What are the entry requirements?
You will need at least 5 GCSE grades A*-C (including grade B or above in Arabic). In addition, as part of the interview process, you may be required to sit subject specific, English and maths assessments.

Interpret information: You can read and understand tables, charts, graphs and diagrams; read and understand numbers used in different ways; estimate amounts and proportions; make accurate observations and select appropriate methods to get the results you need. Carry out calculations: You can carry out calculations involving two or more steps, with numbers of any size, with and without a calculator; work with and convert between fractions, decimals and percentages; convert measurements between systems (e.g. pounds to kilograms); work out areas and volumes; work out dimensions from scale drawings; use proportions and calculate ratios where appropriate; compare sets of data of an appropriate size and use range to describe the spread within sets of data.

GCE AS Level in Arabic

Where can it lead?
This course can lead to progression in studying Arabic at A2 Level. It may also count towards your UCAS points.

What will I study?
You will be reading, and translating a short series of different Arabic-language texts, applying Arabic grammar including vocalising texts. You will also be writing short essays (220-270 words) communicating relevant information effectively.

How will I be taught?
You will learn through lectures, classwork, individual tutorials as well as personal study.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through examination at the end of the year.

You have access to a range of online resources, enrichment facilities including study skills, sports as well as group meetings once a week.
