An archivist is a person assigned to the organization and management of an archive, whether public, private or ecclesiastical. Professionally, it can be employed by a public administration (a public body, for example) or a company that, for substantially commercial, fiscal or inventory reasons, decides to keep a reasoned list of the transactions and / or contracts stipulated with the clientele. It deals with the incoming and outgoing Protocol, the classification of documents, the collation and the inventory. In Italy there is also the figure of the archivist as a freelancer: he works in all product sectors and in the most diverse situations, often with an interim work relationship or defined in a project contract, for the reorganization of archives. There are cooperatives, companies, associated studios of archivists.
