Course programme
The Access course is a 1 year, full time course, especially intended for those people whohave always wanted to study art and design, but have not previously had the chance to doso. The course runs over 3 days (Wed, Thurs & Fri). The college study time is designedaround people with family and, or work commitments i.e. start times are in line with schoolstart times. In addition, students are expected to spend 5 hours a week as home study.
This is a vibrant and exciting course, during the first term you will be introduced to the basic principles of 2D visual language; through drawing, mark-making, mixed media,photography and graphics. At the same time you will be able to develop your knowledge ofthe history of art and design, through illustrated talks and gallery visits. You will also have the opportunity to improve your research and I.T. skills.
In the second term, you will engage in-depth with the exploration of materials, techniques and processes, through drawing, mixed media, Textiles and Ceramics. The assignments will introduce you to concepts and ideas in art and design and how these are connected to the materials and techniques used to communicate ideas for different creative purposes. Additional study skills units run alongside these practical units.
