Art and Design BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies Entry Requirements

• One A Level and 3 GCSEs at C or above including English and preferably Maths OR
• A relevant equivalent Level 3 qualification OR
• Appropriate industry experience.

Entry is subject to a successful interview. You will need to bring with you a portfolio of your work.

Content
This course provides a sound basis for specialised Higher Level study in Art and Design.This is the most important course for students who wish to apply through UCAS for a specialist career course in Art or Design. If you want to choose a top university you will need to have completed this independent Foundation Diploma at Tresham . It is the standard University requirement. This is due to the nature and level of the work, the qualification and diagnostic focus of the course. This course has a record 100% success rate for applications to Higher Education and an excellent reputation at Universities, Edexcel and Ofsted

This is an exciting and intense course designed to fast track you to the top universities in the country. It has had a 100% success rate over the past five years for students gaining the Diploma and places at their chosen university. The course covers analysis, diagnostic, design process, research development and contextual reference in these areas:

Students are provided with their own studio area and benefit from good student-staff ratio. Students are given personal career advice, guidance on UCAS application, advice on portfolio preparation and presentation and Higher Education interview training. Students will also have the opportunity to gain the NCFE Advanced Certificate in Art and Design Level 3

Assessment
Continuous assessment will take place throughout the course with an end of course exhibition, which is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

This foundation course provides a sound basis for specialised higher level study a variety of art and design fields such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion Textile Design, 3D Design, Interior Design, Photography, Special Effects, Film/Video, Art History, Ceramics, Jewellery Illustration, Transport Design, Theatre Design, Digital Media and others. Students may wish to continue their studies with Tresham and progress onto either the HND in Fine Art the HND in Graphic Design, which are both run in association with the University of Northampton. Students who do not wish to continue their studies at Higher Education, may choose to go straight into employment, all students are given advice and support to find the most suitable career for them. There are over 100 different specialist careers, students can apply for on successful completion of the Foundation Studies in Art and Design qualification.
