Content
The BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design is a broad based, two year, full time course. This is the ideal course if you are undecided about which area of art and design you wish to specialize within. If you are open minded and interested in any combination of Fine Art, Textiles, Photography, Graphic Design or Surface Design, then this is the course for you. You will be taught by practising artists and designers and gain the skills and confidence to progress to higher education or employment.
As well as gaining traditional skills within Drawing and Painting, you will also study Photography and be encouraged to experiment with non-traditional media. You will learn how to contextualise your work within Art History, Contemporary Practice and Progression, therefore enabling you to make the right decision about your future. You will be supported in your application to higher education both in the creation of a portfolio and personal development, which will give you the skills to talk confidently about your work. Key Skills will also form part of your qualifications.
Assessment
Assignments are internally assessed throughout the two years and subject to external verification.
Progression
This course will prepare you for entry into employment within the art and design sector, however many students decide to stay at Tresham for a further year to study the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies Art and Design. Other higher level study includes the HNDs in Graphic Design or Fine Art which are also available at Tresham. On completion of these courses previous students have progressed to degree courses in:
Special Effects For Movies, Textiles and Photography, Jewellery, Design Crafts For The Entertainments Industry, Animation, Fine Art or Mixed Media.
