2. Course description This Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design is the ideal route for anyone who would like to complete one of our Level 3 courses here at The Manchester College but who doesn't yet meet the necessary entry requirements. Throughout the whole year, you'll have the chance to work across a range of materials and disciplines, developing your practical and analytical skills in areas such as graphic and communication design, fashion & textiles, drawing, and working with 3D materials. You'll be able to focus on your own creative potential, and use your skills to find innovative solutions to a number of art and design problems, some of which will be posed to you directly by employers in live briefs. This will give you real work experience of the industry and - along with sessions on study skills like reflective thinking, self-management and problem solving - will help prepare you for a future successful career. As with nearly all of our creative qualifications this diploma is awarded by University of the Arts London Awarding Body - the only specialist creative arts awarding body in the UK.

3. Entry requirements You'll need to have at least two GCSEs at grade D or above, including either English or Maths, to enrol on this course. Alternatively, you'll have completed the Level 1 Diploma in Art & Design. You should also be enthusiastic about the subject, and it would be helpful to have a small portfolio of art work for your interview. If you're an adult learner, you'll be able to join us on this Level 2 Diploma without previous qualifications if you can attend an interview and show us your ability to cope with the demands of study, based on your previous experience, commitment and interests. 4. Assessment method During this Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design, you'll be assessed via a range of creative briefs, each designed to combine practical and theoretical studies and challenge you to develop creative solutions. You'll also take part in lectures/presentations, discussion group critiques and computer workshops.
