Artistic heritage protection course

In accordance with article 9 of the Constitution ("The Republic promotes the development of culture and scientific and technical research. It protects the landscape and the historical and artistic heritage of the Nation"), the Code of cultural heritage and landscape has set guiding concepts relating to thinking and activities on the Italian cultural heritage. Protection is any activity aimed at recognizing, protecting and conserving an asset of our cultural heritage so that it can be offered to collective knowledge and enjoyment. It is therefore expressed in: recognition, through the procedure of verification or declaration of the cultural interest of an asset, according to its proprietary nature, protection and conservation. Conservation is any activity carried out with the aim of maintaining the integrity, the identity and functional efficiency of a cultural asset, in a coherent, programmed and coordinated manner. It is therefore expressed in: study, understood as in-depth knowledge of the cultural asset, prevention, understood as the limitation of risk situations connected to the cultural asset in its context and restoration, intended as direct intervention on a cultural asset to recover its material integrity. Enhancement is any activity aimed at improving the conditions of knowledge and conservation of the cultural heritage and at increasing its public use, so as to transmit the values ​​of which this heritage is the bearer.
