Who is this course for?
Anyone who wishes to study Spanish at a higher level.
What will I learn?
You will develop your ability to speak, write, read and listen to the language. This will include comprehension, translation and discussion skills in a number of contemporary topics which will look at the country's lifestyle and culture.
Assessment
AS Level: this qualification is divided into two modules, which are taken separately. There is a speaking module and a listening/reading/writing module. There will be a small piece of writing (200 - 250 words). A2 Level: there are again two modules, one for speaking and one which covers listening/reading/writing. The writing task will cover an element of culture, for example cinema, literature or the study of a specific Spanish-speaking region.
On Completion Achievement / Progression
A modern foreign language is useful in a number of degree courses such as law, journalism, media, education, marketing and tourism. Alternatively, this course will enhance your prospects in seeking employment where they may be Spanish or Latin-American business links within an organisation or careers in areas such as diplomacy, art or tourism.

Requirement
You will need the minimum entry requirement of 4 Grade Cs or above at GCSE level, one in Spanish unless you have worked or lived in a Spanish-speaking country and acquired the use of the language in this way. You will need to have achieved the AS qualification before progressing on to the A2 level course. Students wishing to take this subject as part of the full-time provision should complete an application form on receipt of which we will invite you to the college for an informal interview where you will have the opportunity to talk with the tutors. You are also be required to take a literacy and numeracy
Assessment. If you wish to take this course on a part-time day or evening basis, please attend one of the enrolment sessions advertised on our website.
