What does the course consist of?
  • Health & Social Care can be studied as a Single Award covering 6 units over 2 years (equivalent to one A-level) or Double Award covering 12 units over 2 years (equivalent to two A-levels)
  • A new 9-unit qualification (Advanced GCE with Advanced Subsidiary Additional) is also offered, the equivalent to one and a half A-levels
  • Looking at what affects people†s health and well-being, and how the health and social care services meet their needs
  • Aspects of biology, sociology, psychology and health
  • You will get the chance to talk to people working in the care services
  • You will have the opportunity to go on a short placement in your first year.
How is this course assessed?
  • Two-thirds of the course is assessed by portfolio work
  • One-third of the course is assessed by a written one and a half-hour exam
