What does the course consist of?
  • The single award (equivalent to one A-level) contains ICT user units only, a user being someone who uses IT packages in the workplace
  • Units covered over two years for this single award are:
    · Research and produce a report about how ICT is used in businesses
    · Create a database for a client
    · Manage (in a group) an ICT project
    · Design and build a spreadsheet for a client
    · Produce an interactive multimedia application
  • The double award (equivalent to two A-levels) contains both ICT user and ICT practitioner units, a practitioner being someone who has an ICT role in an organisation. The above units and a further six will be completed over two years
    · Install and configure computer hardware and software
    · Create computer artwork for a client
    · Create a website for a client
    · Design and create a programmed database
    · Install and configure a small network
    · Analyse and design a system for a client.

How is this course assessed?
  • Single Award - Four internally assessed portfolios and two externally set examinations over two years
  • Double Award - Five internally assessed portfolios and one externally set examination, over two years
