- Duration: 2 years
- Psychology is interesting and challenging, and studying it provides the opportunity to develop a unique combination of skills including:
· Research skills; Essay writing; Numerical skills; Communication and presentation skills; Questionnaire design and analysis - I want to develop an understanding of human behaviour
- I want to study a scientific discipline which is fun and enlightening, but which requires commitment and hard work
- In the first year we will look at the following topics for the AS-level
· Cognitive Psychology - Memory
· Developmental Psychology - Attachment
· Social Psychology - Conformity and Obedience
· Physiological Psychology - Stress
· Individual Differences - Psychological Abnormality
· Research methods - How we study human behaviour - For the A2 level, topics may include:
· Eating behaviour - Culture, Biology and Eating disorders
· Psychopathology - Depression or Phobias
· Aggression - Mob behaviour and Jealousy
· Biopsychology - Biorhythms, Sleep and Dreams
· Research methods and Scientific Theory
How is this course assessed?
- Examination questions include short answer, stimulus-response and essay questions
