Why choose Textiles?
We live in a colourful and decorated environment. The clothes we wear, the fabrics in our homes, costume in film and television have all been designed by fashion or textiles designers.

This course gives you the opportunity to explore colour, pattern and texture through printed, dyed and constructed textiles. It is very much aimed at students who have previous experience in GCSE Art and Design and in drawing.

Resources and Facilities
A well-equipped Art room with facilities for dyeing, printing and design activity.

Facilities for photographic screen printing.

Teaching and Learning Styles
Practical projects involve recording from direct experience, developing ideas, making connections with the work of others, experimenting with materials and techniques, and focused planning for textile outcomes.

Historical critical work involves research into the work of fashion or textile designers and a personal response to your experience of museum/gallery visits of relevance to written coursework.

All of the projects encourage an individual and creative response.
