Why should I choose this course?
  • I want to know more about the theatre - great writers, actors, designers and thinkers

What does the course consist of?
  • Studying drama texts, including one play written before 1700
  • Analysing public performances - there will be several group theatre visits during the course
  • Keeping a diary of productions you have seen and making notes on all aspects such as lighting, sets, sound effects and costuming
  • Learning about the work of key theatrical practitioners and their influence on modern theatre
How is this course assessed?
  • 40% of the course is practical. You will have to demonstrate individual skill in, for example, acting, and work as part of a group to present an extract from a published play
  • You submit a written portfolio reflecting on the process
  • One written examination unit in first year
  • One written examination unit in second year
