This subject has been created as a response to the growing concerns that people in our society should have understanding of their role as global citizens. WJEC
This course forms part of our AS Integrated Studies programme. If you are interested in justice, environmental issues, equality and being treated fairly you will find this course interesting and thought provoking. You will form and develop your values and opinions.
It combines very well with many subjects, particularly Geography, Sociology, Politics, Law, Philosophy and Ethics and Religious Studies.
Teaching and Learning Styles
You will be taught by teachers who have a specific interest in development issues. Lessons will be very varied and include a lot of discussions and small group work as well as using a wide range of stimulus material.
Resources and Facilities
All resources are current and valid, a must for this particular subject. Pictures, DVD clips and newspapers will be used extensively. The LRC stocks a range of useful magazines, eg The New Internationalist.

One exam (WJEC Board), 70% of AS mark covering the whole course
Theme 1 Development, Resources and Global Citizenship
Theme 2 Poverty and Inequality
Two pieces of coursework, 30% of AS mark one essay (1000 words) and one analysis of three articles (500 words)

Theme 3 Perspectives of Development
Theme 6 Social Development - One piece of coursework, 30% of A2 mark - one essay (3000 words)
