Learning objectives · Understand the difference between passive, aggressive and assertive behaviour · Understand the difference between how you see yourself and how others see you · Appreciate the wide and rich variety of assertive techniques · Discover many ways that experts have sought to explain and understand the nature and demands of being assertive · Explain and apply the principles of negotiation · Recognise the importance of non-verbal communication and social skills · Influence people to achieve identified objectives · Reduce resistance and minimise conflict · Know when and how to accept the opinions, values and will of others · Work to achieve a win-win situation Assessment Group work and course exercises designed to underpin the principles and techniques of assertiveness.
