Introduction:
This course has been developed to meet the requirements of the QCA quality assurance standards and is the minimum qualification requested by NVQ Awarding Bodies in order to gain approval to deliver NVQ qualifications. This has also influenced the expectations of External Verifiers of Non-NVQ qualifications, which are criteria-based.

Study Mode & Location:
This 22 week part-time course lasts for 1 hour per week and will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
There will be two full day training sessions and up to 15 hours tutorial sessions with an assessor in order to build up a portfolio.

The first day of training covers the following areas:

  • Identifying the criteria for assessment
  • Action planning for self-development
  • The assessment process and the standards
  • Planning observations and evidence collection
  • Providing feedback.


The second day of training covers:

  • Planning for observation and evidence collection
  • Becoming involved in the Quality Assurance Process
  • Portfolio building
  • The legislation involved in the assessment process
  • The Awarding Bodies.


Assessment:
A combination of observation, witness testimony, professional discussion and evidence collection.

The course provides a stepping stone to the V1 Internal Verifier award and can be used, in conjunction with other units, to gain one of the following certificates:

  • Level 3 Award in Direct Training and Development
  • Level 4 Award in Learning and Development.


How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
