This programme prepares students to meet workforce needs as Band 4 Assistant Practitioners in health or social care within the NHS. It is aimed at those who are already working in the NHS as Assistant Practitioners or who have been identified by their employer as having the potential to work as an Assistant Practitioner. The programme offers a practice-led and competency–based curriculum in which a strong emphasis on work based learning will facilitate and enhance a student's learning, complementing and consolidating the theoretical components of the programme. Work based learning provides Assistant Healthcare Practitioner identity throughout the programme and offers students the opportunities to achieve and demonstrate the programme's learning outcomes, skills and practice learning outcomes necessary to work as an Assistant Practitioner. About this course

Applicants should have:80 UCAS points from an A-Level or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification plus GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or above or be able to demonstrate their ability to work at that level.. Students must be in employment with a NHS Trust which has agreed to support the student throughout the programme.. Applicants with alternative qualifications such as NVQ level 3 in Caring PLUS GCSE grade A - C in English Language or equivalent. Assessment Assessment will be a combination of formative and summative assessment tasks. A range of assessment methods will be employed including reflective accounts of care, practice assessment document, rehearsal of skills during skills sessions, case studies, reports, presentations and unseen examinations. Careers The programme is designed to prepare students for work as assistant health or social care practitioners in a designated role within the NHS workforce. Students will have acquired lifelong learning skills that will enable them to pursue CPD opportunities, including the opportunity to pursue further study leading to a registered qualification in health or social care (subject to PSRB requirements).
