This programme offers an interprofessional learning experience for those working in Health and Social Care to enable the development of the Assistant Practitioner role. Trainees leave the programme able to deliver safe and effective care, having a required level of knowledge and skill beyond that of the traditional health care assistant or support worker. They are able to deliver elements of health and social care that have previously been within the remit of registered professionals.
If you are looking to expand your knowledge to improve the holistic view of the patient or service user, look no further than the Assistant Practitioner at the University of Derby. This is a flexible course that can be tailored to suit roles associated with a range of health and social care professions and will improve your confidence when dealing with challenging situations.
Trainees on this programme may be preparing for an assistant practitioner role or equivalent.
You can study to be an Assistant Practitioner either through self–funding or through an apprenticeship. Both routes require you to be working a minimum of 30 hours in a Health and Social Care setting and have the support of your employer
About this course
Applicants will have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification. Where applicants do not have a level 3 qualification a portfolio assessment will be offered.
