Designed for editors, assistant editors and multimedia producers, this two-day course focuses primarily on short-form workflows. It will furnish you with the tips, tricks and in-depth knowledge required to take you to a new level of editing.
You will learn the skills you need to optimise your editing workflows, streamline your ingest process and manage your media, including advanced picture editing techniques, how to quickly prepare for multicam editing and working with graphics and mattes.
This course also covers compositing with the 3D Warp effect, colour correction and offers an in-depth look at some of the many audio tools and effects included in Media Composer.

About this course
To enrol on this course, you must have successfully completed Avid: Media Composer – Editing Essentials (MC101) and Avid: Media Composer – Effects Essentials (MC110) or have the equivalent of 12 months’ experience of full-time editing using Media Composer.
Having a background in editing, assistant editing, directing or producing is strongly recommended.

What will you study on Avid: Media Composer – Professional Editing I?
This short course will cover the following areas:
- Planning your editing process
- Inputting and managing media
- Using multicam editing
- Using advanced editing and timeline management techniques
- Working with graphics and mattes
- Multilayer and composite graphics
- Performing basic colour correction techniques
- Preparing your audio mix using tools like EQ, compressors and expanders
- Delivering a high-quality finished file.
Upon completion of this course, you will have expert knowledge of Media Composer’s advanced editing functionality. When combined with Media Composer — Professional Editing II (MC210), this course also provides the training required for Avid’s Professional Media Composer Certification.
