The award is aimed at any pre-service or in-service applicant who needs an initial award for their role as a teacher, trainer or tutor within an FE college or Adult and Community Learning Centre, training providers and those delivering work based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations. All candidates must undertake an interview and apply for DBS clearance to demonstrate that they do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working as a teacher with young people or vulnerable adults.

About this course
Candidates must be able to read and communicate clearly and accurately enough to meet the requirements of this Level 3 training and hold a relevant vocational and/or academic Qualification of at least the level above that of their learners, ideally at a minimum of Level 3 their chosen subject specialism although those with substantial, appropriate vocational experience may also be considered.

What will I study on the course?
Modules on the course will enable candidates to develop an understanding of roles and responsibilities in relation to teaching and to appreciate appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist subject area. Candidates will also be required to plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teaching session and to observe and evaluate others micro-teaching sessions as well as developing their awareness and understanding of the use of assessment methods and record keeping.
