Course programme

Course Content
  • Year 1

In Year 1 you will study both of your combined honours subjects equally or choose a major/minor route.

You will be involved in practical dance classes, choreography, workshops, lectures and seminar sessions.

You will be introduced to sociological methods to collect information on the individual and society which may include theories on family history, social welfare policies, criminology, and knowledge and practice associated with sociology of health.

  • Year 2

In Year 2 you can choose to continue with equal study or you can choose a major/minor route. The units you will study depend on the route you have chosen.

Your second year of dance builds on your first year studies of choreography, performance and research and gradually allows you a more independently determined learning experience.

Your theoretical and methodological skills will be enhanced by exploring perspectives around social inequalities and you will be offered the opportunity of conducting supervised research in the form of project work.

  • Year 3

In your final year you can continue with an equal study or major/minor route. Alternatively, you can choose named route study, so you will take all of your final year units in sociology or dance.
