Course programme
The course commences with a broad-based engineering education, emphasising the application of mechanical engineering.
Your studies will include a combination of lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, computer laboratory work and workshop practicals. The study of manufacturing methods, commercial management and production management along with the mathematical knowledge to underpin the mechanical engineering theories you will learn ensures that your education is comprehensive and multidisciplinary.
Your studies will be complemented by a specialist design-and-make module, which utilises our machine shops an important professional requirement.
Final YearIn the final year of the BEng course, you will undertake a major project which gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills as an engineer. You will develop a deeper knowledge of mechanical engineering in line with your particular interests, selecting specialist optional modules from a range of subjects such as design, manufacturing, finite element analysis, materials, CAD CAM, dynamics and vibration and environmental engineering.
