Its not all theory; you also have the chance to gain hands on experience in the Universitys state-of-the-art production studio and out in the field with local and national media organisations. By exposing our students to a broad range of film perspectives and filmmaking practices, we aim to produce viewers who love film and crucially understand it.

Course Content Year 1

All first-year film studies students take a set of core modules, which provide a foundation for the degree. you will study a blend of critical, historical, practical and theoretical approaches to film, designed to give all students the same, solid foundation for their subsequent years of study.

Year 2 and 3

Beyond that, you are free to tailor your programme to suit your own interests, choosing modules from a huge range including:

  • History of Hollywood Horror; Analysing Television Drama
