Course programme

Course Content
  • Year 1

In your first year you will examine the fashion industry at all market levels and gain an in-depth understanding of the processes involved in taking a garment from initial design concept to shop floor.

The course has been designed in consultation with industry and you will be supported by industry mentors and work on live projects which will be set by our industry partners. You will also benefit from a Master Class series, with sessions delivered by our industry contacts and renowned academics from our partner institutions.

  • Year 2

In your second year you will work strategically and apply your knowledge to projects that have been sponsored by industry. We will also support you in building a professional portfolio that will allow you to demonstrate your achievements to perspective employers. If you choose to go on a placement you will also receive support in preparing for this.

  • Year 3

If you decide to opt for the four year sandwich route, Year 3 will be spent on a full-time placement, with opportunities available in both the UK and abroad.

  • Year 4

In your final year it is intended that you will undertake a bespoke project defined by you in partnership with business.

You will have the choice of developing sponsored business plan or completing an academic dissertation.

You will also take part in industry workshops to create an authentic business environment, allowing you to build confidence in your own abilities and to explore new avenues of thinking.

It is our aim that by the end of your studies you will have at least three professional references, gained through your interaction with industry, that you can give to prospective employers.
