Course programme
Our BA Human Geography programme allows students to specialise in that side of the discipline they find most engaging. First-year modules introduce students to key concepts and themes in human geography, providing the building blocks for more specialist modules later in the programme.
Year 2Second and fourth year options include modules on: globalisation; cities and regions; transnational geographies; sustainable futures; green economies; development and the global south; cultural geographies; landscape history; and the geographies of oppression and resistance. You can also select an additional module from a choice drawn from social science, humanities or modern languages. Year 2 also includes a free core field study module to an overseas destination such as Germany or Italy.
Final YearYou spend one semester of your final year gaining real-world experience and boosting your employability by working on a work experience module with an outside organisation from the private, public or third sectors. Another important part of the final year is the dissertation a piece of individual work on a topic of your choice, carried out under the guidance of a supervisor.
