Course Content Year 1 In your first year, your two core modules, Reading the Screen and Understanding Media, introduce you to the critical appreciation and theoretical study of screen media. The rest of your modules will be drawn from a range of options, usually including: The Craft of Filmmaking; Interpreting American Culture; Principles of Visual Design; Screen Nations; and Game and Entertainment Studies. Year 2 In Year 2, modules include Television Production and Analysis; American Animation History; American Alternative Cinema; Analysing Television Drama; Sociology of Popular Culture; and Television, Radio and the Everyday. Year 3 In Year 3, you will research and write a dissertation on a topic of your own choice (with specialist supervision) as well as choosing from optional modules such as the screen production project; Disney Studies; work-based learning; Is Television History?; and Global Nightmares: Contemporary Horror Cinema from Around the World.
