Course programme
In your first year you take core modules in: Music, criticism and culture; Music Practice I and II; music history and society; and Creative Music Skills I and II (performance, composition and technology).
Year 2 and Year 3In Years 2 and 3 you can choose to take modules in different pathways including: Performance (solo/ensemble, directing/conducting, session-playing); Composition (instrumental, songwriting, electronic, audiovisual, film); Musicology (jazz studies, 19th century music, new music, rock and popular musicology); and Technology (studio techniques, music technology applications, film and game audio, interactive technologies).
Further specialist modules include: psychology of music performance; film music; orchestration; arranging; Shakespeare music; Handel's dramatic works; music industry studies; and global pop.
