This degree is taught within a modular framework, which gives you great flexibility of choice. All modules are assigned a credit value, with a total of 360 credits of study. In each year, students usually split the 120 credits between the two semesters. One year of study leads to a certificate (120 credits), or a diploma after two years (240 credits) if you decide not to go any further.

Year 1

There are five core modules for the first year of study:

  • Introduction to Philosophy 1 (focusing on Moral Philosophy)
  • Introduction to Philosophy 2 (focusing on Epistemology, Metaphysics and Philosophy of Mind)
  • History of Western Thought (from Ancient Greek to 19th Century Philosophy)
  • Reason and Argument (a module on reasoning skills and informal logic)
  • Philosophical Texts (an introduction to some classical texts in philosophy).
Year 2

In the second year there are three core modules: 20th Century Philosophy • Ways of Knowing • Moral Philosophy.

Year 3
