Enhance your Spanish speaking skills while studying ancient societies on the BA Ancient History and Spanish programme at the University of Southampton. In your first year you will follow a total of eight modules (four in each semester). These are divided equally between the two parts of your degree. In Modern Languages one module in each semester (two over the year) will be your Spanish language course while the second module in each semester will be a Modern Languages content module

Multilingualism

Year 3

Students will spend the year abroad in a country where the chosen language is spoken, either as :

  • an English language assistant (British Council)
  • studying on a University course (Erasmus)
  • on an approved work placement

During the year abroad students are required to complete an Investigative Project (LANG3005). This is an independent study project (6000 words) supervised by a member of staff and written in the target language.
