• Become a qualified languages educator, and take the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL.On this course, you'll study a main and secondary language, learn to teach English as a foreign language, and gain Qualified Teacher Status for primary and secondary levels.
About this course
You'll learn how to apply this to your classroom practice. On top of your study of German, you'll also choose between French, Spanish, or Italian (the latter at beginner level only) as a secondary language.
This must include at least 64 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. You also must have an A level in German or an AS level at grade C in German. For example:BBC at A Level including an A level in GermanA combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies, with an A Level in German or AS level grade C in German.
The TESOL Centre is validated by Trinity College London to run the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL as part of this course. Students will get the Certificate in TESOL upon successful completion of the Trinity College London assessment requirements.

Course programme
You'll study in a range of settings at home and abroad, graduating with a diverse skill-set and accredited qualifications.During your study, you'll work and collaborate with fellow students — developing skills in key areas including foreign languages, the systems and acquisition of language, and approaches to teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Additional qualifications
If you are interested in teaching and want to achieve Qualified Teacher Status, you will be given the opportunity to opt-in on either the BA (Honours) Modern Foreign Languages with TESOL and QTS or the BA (Honours) Languages with TESOL and QTS, in the second or third year respectively. Admissions on opt-in courses will be subject to the standard QTS entry requirements, including literacy and numeracy tests, DBS checks and individual interviews.

Work placements
You spend a total of 18 months abroad, including six months studying at one of our partner universities. This is followed by a teaching placement year in an overseas educational establishment in a German-speaking country. This will not only help you to improve your language skills and develop your understanding of German culture, but will provide exceptional real-world experience for your future career.
