Gain cross-cultural skills and linguistic competence in two modern foreign languages.Attain the knowledge and confidence you need to teach English to speakers of other languages.Spend a total of 18 months abroad in the countries of your foreign languages. Erasmus funding may be available to support costs for overseas study.Train in specialist facilities accredited by the British Council. Become a qualified languages educator, and take the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL.On this course, you'll study a main and secondary language, learn to teach English as a foreign language, and gain Qualified Teacher Status for primary and secondary levels.

This course prepare you for a career in education, either as a teacher of foreign language or TESOL teaching UK and worldwide state education systemsprivate and public sector positions
This must include at least 64 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. You also must have an A level in Spanish or an AS level at grade C in Spanish. For example:BBC at A Level including an A level in Spanish A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies, with an A Level in Spanish or AS level grade C in Spanish.
The TESOL Centre is validated by Trinity College London to run the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL as part of this course. Students will get the Certificate in TESOL upon successful completion of the Trinity College London assessment requirements.

Course programme
You'll study in a range of settings at home and abroad, graduating with a diverse skill-set and accredited qualifications.During your study, you'll work and collaborate with fellow students — developing skills in key areas including foreign languages, the systems and acquisition of language, and approaches to teaching English to speakers of other languages.
You'll learn how to apply this to your classroom practice. On top of your study of Spanish, you'll also choose between French, German, or Italian (the latter at beginner level only) as a secondary language. For the fifth and final year of your course you will complete at least 120 days of school-based experience, leading to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), delivered by the School of Education.

There are opportunities to study abroad at one of our partner universities with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus programme.
Applied learning
Work placements
You spend a total of 18 months abroad, including six months studying at one of our partner universities. This is followed by a teaching placement year in an overseas educational establishment in a Spanish-speaking country. This will not only help you to improve your language skills and develop your understanding of Spanish culture, but will provide exceptional real-world experience for your future career.
