Course programme
What your course will look like
Assessment
You will be continually assessed through the presentation of project and written work. You will produce practical work and in your final year make or contribute to the making of a short animated piece. Essays, blog entries, business plans, reports and a dissertation also form part of the requirements of the course.
Year 1
You will build fundamental skills in the most current animation software and equipment. You will begin to learn the art of storytelling through the twelve animation principles, combining creative thinking and applied techniques. We encourage you to start thinking about your own reflective practice and contextual studies research.
Year 2
You will learn more specialist areas within animation production including visual effects and character performance. This will allow you to enhance your practice and develop an approach to your personal creative output. We aim to set a variety of live project briefs, some working with partners in the charity, health and education sectors.
Year 3
You will bring your learning together in a final major animation project, with the aim of pitching your skills to other students on your course and eventually to industry. We ask you to show your contextual studies research and thinking in a long form dissertation. Finally, you will complete a personal portfolio of your skills ready for entry into your chosen industry.
