This degree is for those looking to enter a career in counselling and psychotherapy, either in an environment which utilises counselling or one which encompasses the emotional and psychological wellbeing of others. You will develop your counselling knowledge and skills and train to become a highly effective therapist, gaining a critical understanding of the theories, policies and practice relating to counselling and psychotherapy and specialising within an experiential person-centred model of therapy. Experienced tutors will support you throughout, from gaining introductory counselling skills with your peers to undertaking professional counselling practice with clients. Successful completion of this degree will enable you to practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

International students enrolling on the programme in academic year 2017/18 are £11,575 per annum.

How will I be assessed?

A variety of assessment techniques are used including presentations and written assignments. Formative assessment is incorporated to support achievement and confidence with the opportunity for constructive feedback prior to any summative submission. There are no formal written examinations as part of the current assessment methods on this programme.

Who will be teaching me?

You will be taught by a highly qualified team with vast experience in the field of counselling and research methods. The degree is led by a programme leader and each module has an individual module coordinator. You will also be assigned a personal tutor to support your learning experience. You will have access to excellent library facilities and learning services support. Guest speakers with specialised knowledge will also enhance your learning experience.
