The BA (Hons) in Digital Production Arts offers a ground-breaking approach to a dynamic subject area by utilising the latest technology in 3D imaging, scanning and printing to design, develop and produce a range of effects for theatre, film and television. The course is focused on employability and skills taught on the course will prepare graduates for a wide-range of careers in these key sectors. The course features a diverse range of skills required to succeed in the industry and focuses on: special effects make-up, prosthetics, prop construction, wig, costume, creature and puppet design, virtual and augmented reality, lighting and sound design. Teaching and learning is firmly focused on use of cutting-edge technology in digital scanning, photogrammetry, digital sculpting software, 3D printing and virtual reality.

The BA (Hons) in Digital Production Arts is distinctive in its approach. Costume is a fundamental element of performance: it communicates place, time and character. During this module you will design, develop and create a costume design based on a character from a pre-existing source or text. You will develop ideas through the use of a sketch book and learn the fundamentals of costume making, using materials, techniques and processes to produce a costume appropriate for production use.

In this module you will learn the basics of studio recording you will learn the tools and techniques to be able to take an appropriate role in a variety of recording and production scenarios. Using the University recording studios you will learn the fundamental concepts of studio practice, including the basic operation of mixing consoles. Further study will include learning about microphones and their placement and how to record different instruments in the studio including percussion, guitars, bass, piano and vocals.
