Digital Television Production is the study of all aspects of television production including broadcast and online media. This course features two pathways in either production or operations.
Both pathways on this degree will produce graduates who are highly skilled studio and location professionals who are able to work on multi or single-camera productions.

Entry requirements

Students will normally be expected to possess five GCSEs (grade C/level 4 or above) or equivalent (including English) and also to hold at least one of the below or equivalent UK or international qualifications.

2 vocational A levels, grade C or above
Level 3 Foundation Diploma or National Diploma
Advanced Diploma, grade C or above

Course programme

What your course will look like

Assessment

You will be assessed through the completion of practical and written work including presentations, group projects and pitches.

Year 1

You will build basic knowledge in traditional methods of broadcasting. Alongside this, you will learn about the television industry and develop an awareness of multi-platform delivery. You will cover studio drama techniques and both location and studio factual genres.

Year 2

You will apply the production skills and techniques gained in the first year with an emphasis on interactive audience behaviours and engagement. At the same time, you will continue to develop your own ideas and entrepreneurial skills.

Year 3

You will complete a live external brief and make a portfolio of self-initiated projects. This will help you to bring together a showreel of work to highlight your skills to industry. We ask you to show your contextual studies research in a long form dissertation.

Progression

Successful completion of this course can lead to postgraduate study in MA Moving Image.
