Course programme
Summary
This programme will benefit people who are looking for, or already have, a career in the health and social care sector. It is recommended that students undertaking this course are already employed in a relevant setting or are undertaking voluntary work.
The course is applicable to those working with service-users from early years through to end of life care in a variety of settings (statutory, private sector, voluntary agencies or social enterprises).
There is increasing recognition that the health and social care sectors need to work together and recent legislation emphasises the need for co-working and the provision of holistic care.
The trend for statutory bodies (such as the NHS or Local Authorities) commissioning services, rather than providing them, and for changes in the roles of professions, such as Social work, means that health and social care practitioners need to have qualifications that equip them for work in a rapidly changing sector.
This course enables and facilitates professional progression through the acquisition of transferrable skills, such as reflective practice, collaborative working, leadership, critical analysis, problem-solving and communication. Study of this programme will enable students to analyse ethical and professional dilemmas that arise in practice and to work with complexity.
This programme is taught through group work, tutorials, lectures, seminars, digital technologies, experiential workshops and guided independent study.
All of City College Norwich’s degree programmes are validated by the UEA, meaning that the quality of the awards you get is assured by a world renowned Higher Education organisation.
