Course introduction: If you’re planning on a career in international business, you’ll need a combination of general business skills and specialised knowledge of the global market place – and that’s exactly what this course offers, with the added opportunity to develop your language and intercultural communication skills. You’ll study your chosen language (from French, German or Spanish) to degree level, with a focus on communication and practical language skills such as negotiation and report-writing. In addition you’ll gain a strong foundation in a wide range of business and management disciplines, together with skills and experience that will enable you to meet the challenges of a career in the fast-changing world of international business.

Your language study, and study of the international business environment and its particular needs, will be reinforced by a compulsory year abroad, when you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the culture of the country of your choice and hone your language skills. You may also have the opportunity to develop employability skills specific to companies with international economic activities, and to obtain a double degree at one of our partner universities in Germany, France or Spain. You'll accelerate your rate of learning and have the opportunity to become familiar with the way business is conducted in that country - a valuable asset for anyone involved in international trade. Alongside your language learning, you’ll acquire all the knowledge and skills to equip you for a broad range of careers in business at home and abroad. The research skills training included in the programme mean that you can also progress to further study. This is a full-time course studied over four years. You’ll learn by a variety of teaching methods including lectures, tutorials and through independent study. In our language classes small group sessions and experienced teaching staff make for an intensive but enjoyable learning experience. In addition, our exchange programmes with overseas institutions and subsidies for living expenses add a valuable practical edge to the course.
