This programme provides an exciting opportunity to study French or Spanish at degree level and spend time in the country where that language is spoken. You will train to become an inspiring professional teacher at secondary level. About this course

You will qualify as an outstanding secondary teacher who is able to bring excellent subject knowledge to a first teaching post. You will also have practical experience in school and other settings, have built your confidence, and obtained a set of skills that will allow you to excel as a teacher.

3 Year Route – 112 UCAS Tariff points on the new UCAS Tariff. An A Level at minimum grade C (or equivalent) in French or Spanish is required, plus GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent). Consideration will be given to applicants who are native speakers;
2 Year Route – relevant HND/HNC or Part1 (120 credits at Level 4) of a degree programme, plus GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent). Evidence of secondary school experience is recommended.

360 academic credits are studied on the programme in total, in addition to 80 ungraded credits for the Professional Practice modules.

Optional modules provide an element of choice within the programme curriculum. The availability of optional modules may vary from year to year and will be subject to minimum student numbers being achieved. This means that the availability of specific optional modules cannot be guaranteed. Optional module selection may also be affected by timetabling requirements.

International students enrolling on the programme in academic year 2017/18 are £11,575 per annum.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a number of ways. This includes work based on your classroom experience where you will demonstrate how to plan effectively, undertake assessment, and to develop your subject knowledge. You will also carry out assessments and assignments such as verbal presentations, posters, essays and practical notebooks. Some of this work is designed to demonstrate your competence in ICT.
