The module has a focus on the operational management of business tourism in the meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition (MICE) sector. Students would be able to undertake a critical analysis on the UK's business visits and events strategy. The knowledge gained from this module will equip students to develop their insights into destination related topics in their final year of their tourism studies.

Within a theoretical framework to develop an understanding of and can explain the need to manage self before embarking on the management of others, and how, to identify and select tools to better manage self. 2. To assess the impact of how individual perceptions, beliefs and also factors outside the managers control can impact upon the management of others and is able to explain how others respond to being managed or led. 4. This module represents an opportunity for students to apply and develop, through work experience, the skills and knowledge they have gained on their course. This module involves a year long placement in a business related area, supported by a workplace mentor and UWBS Employability and Placement Unit (EPU). The year-long placement provides students with the opportunity to gain experience of graduate level work. In this way students can gain a second, world-recognised qualification with no extra work. Employers are very keen to employ graduates who have already had work experience as part of their course and this contributes to a student’s unique selling point.

The Business Research Methods module is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake research at undergraduate level. This module will support students in their development of a range of skills to facilitate independent research-based learning and the interpretation of research findings. There is a 36 hours of scheduled teaching in class with an additional 12 hours of asynchronous activity. It will provide a vehicle for the students to demonstrate a range of both intellectual and practical skills, which will prove vital for future career development. The students will produce a research proposal that assess all the learning outcomes.

The main aim of this module is to develop a deep understanding of the concept of marketing management in making marketing management decisions in the context of destinations. Specifically, the module explores the challenges facing Destination Marketing or Management Organisations (DMOs) in analysing increasingly complex tourism market structures and consumer behaviour. It also emphasizes the role and importance of strategic thinking for the management of tourism. The module will also examine various tourism planning approaches and discuss the role of tourism planning within the context of destination development. A structured approach is adopted in the development of strategic and sustainable marketing plans. Issues covered include the researching and selecting of marketing opportunities and threats. Specific treatment is given to the analysis of creative aspects, such as positioning and image generation, whilst the significance of branding in destination marketing is addressed at a local, regional and national level. A largely practical perspective is adopted.
