This combined degree allows you to study an undergraduate degree in arts, selecting from over 50 humanities and social science areas. Choose to combine a Master of Nursing with a Bachelor of Arts, offering the opportunity to study subjects such as languages, economics, performance studies, social policy, government and international relations, Indigenous Australian studies and film studies. Beginning in second year studies will include units in postgraduate nursing, gaining a broad interdisciplinary understanding in both humanities and health.
Completion of this degree allows you to apply to become a registered nurse in Australia. You will be eligible to apply for registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and have a wide range of career choices in clinical and non-clinical settings.
Developing skills for leadership in nursing, you will learn to understand the impact of your practice within local and global health contexts, across changing healthcare systems. At Sydney Nursing School, we are committed to developing research and using it as a basis for clinical decision making, in turn improving patient experience and outcomes. Joining students from varied undergraduate degrees, you will engage in debate in our vibrant learning environment.
Study over four years full-time, or eight years part-time. Teaching takes place in lectures, tutorials and simulation clinics and in clinical placements across Sydney, New South Wales or even further afield.

Unit of Study information
Study planStudents complete a total of 192 credit points (cp) to be awarded the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Nursing combined degree, including 96cp from the Bachelor of Arts and 96cp from the Master of Nursing . First year of this combined degree requires 48cp of studies exclusively in the Bachelor of Arts. Over second and third years, students continue to study 48cp of arts subject areas (24cp each year) including a Table A major. The Master of Nursing units of study are introduced from second year. Students are expected to complete their arts degree before continuing to the fourth and final year of their combined degree. Fourth year involves studies entirely in the Master of Nursing. Students will be placed within a clinical school and undertake units of study and four weeks of clinical placements in their chosen area. All students must also meet other requirements for this combined degree as outlined in the course resolutions.
