Overview At a glance CQUniversity’s innovative Bachelor of Construction offers a seamless combination of university theory with the hands-on practical aspects of TAFE, providing you with a practical pathway to a career in the construction and building industry.You will graduate with a solid grounding in construction as your studies combine the core units from within the Certificate III in Carpentry with theoretical units in construction, built environment, management and design, including residential, commercial and complex construction. As a student in this course, you will gain theoretical knowledge in building and construction and will be provided with opportunities to apply this knowledge throughout scheduled work placements and hands-on class activities.Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Construction, along with the relevant work experience, you will be eligible to apply for an Open Class Builder’s Licence in Queensland with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Alternatively, on completion of the first one-and-a-half years you can choose to exit with the Diploma of Construction and along with the required relevant industry experience, you may be eligible to apply for a Low Rise Building Licence recognised in Queensland by the QBCC.The knowledge you gain within this degree, coupled with relevant experience, allows you to pursue a wide range of careers in the construction industry such as site supervisor, carpenter, project manager, facilities coordinator, contract administrator and construction manager. Work integrated LearningAt CQUniversity, we’ve balanced theory with practical experience to ensure you graduate work ready, making you attractive to employers and helping to widen your career options. This course incorporates an unpaid work placement of approximately 60 days, generally undertaken throughout the first and second year of the course (starting in the second term of your first year of study). This work placement will be arranged by CQUniversity and will provide you with hands on and relevant experience. There are also practical workshop components throughout this course that you will undertake in the classroom guided by our expert teaching professionals.
The Bachelor of Construction is designed that after the first one and a half years of your degree you are able to study via distance education, either part time or full time, allowing you to work in your field while you study.
