Course programme

Students complete a major (36 units) in International Studies, which includes 12 units of core courses in international politics and 24 units of closed electives from a wide range of disciplines.
Students also choose a minor (18 units) in one of the following areas: Asian Studies; History; International Development; International Business; and Geography, Environment and Population.
In addition, students who are not exempt from language studies complete a minimum of nine units of languages.
The remaining nine units are made up of free choice electives from within the University of Adelaide.
Alternatively, students can use these remaining nine units to complete a minor (18 units) in the language of their choice.
The program incorporates a range of international experiences, including study tours and an International Studies Internship, and students are encouraged to spend at least one semester at an overseas university to gain valuable international experience and cultural perspectives.
Study Abroad and Exchange Opportunities The University has student exchange links with over 100 overseas institutions.
You can study overseas for one or two semesters which counts as credit towards your degree program at the University of Adelaide.
In addition there are no extra tuition fees for this study.

Bachelor of International Studies Areas of Specialisation The Bachelor of International Studies has specialisations in three areas: Asia's Rising Powers, International Security, and Global Governance and Justice.
The International Studies closed electives have been grouped into these three streams to enable students to focus their elective studies in a particular specialisation if they choose.
