GCSE Grade C in math or functional skills maths level 2

English and maths

– Apprentices without English must achieve Functional Skills level 2

– We have an extensive support package available, including college attendance to functional skills classes and an online teaching and learning platform, which guides learners from an initial and a diagnostic assessment, through to being exam ready.

Year 1

The Barbering Advanced Apprenticeship program will require you to develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours in a professional environment and achieve a series of standards to prove your competence and skill: Barbering consists of four mandatory units; provide client consultation, creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques, design and create a range of facial hair shapes, provide shaving services.
There are also several optional units to choose from including; perm and neutralise hair, fulfil salon duties, colour and lighten men’s hair, provide a variety of relaxing services, develop, enhance and evaluate your creative hairdressing skills, provide specialist hair and scalp treatments, contribute to the implementation of promotional activities, hair colour correction services, design and create patterns in the hair. There will be online tests and practical assessments throughout the programme. Employee rights and responsibilities and personal learning and thinking skill.

Additional information

On-programme is the learning phase for apprentices to pick up the skills, knowledge and behaviours set in each standard. Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship. You can track and monitor the 20% through our e-portfolio. On program assessment includes: – Regular assessment (involving employer and training provider) – Development of a portfolio demonstrating learning and development activities with their application in the workplace. – Completion of level 3 NVQ Diploma for Barbering – You will also need to complete an Employee Right and Responsibility qualification whilst on the apprenticeship.
