Course programme
Level 2: You're just starting out in barbering or have some knowledge and basic skills in the industry - probably from a role where you work under supervision. You might be a young learner (14-16) or an adult.
Level 3: You've worked in hairdressing or barbering for some time and want to develop your skills in a specialised area. You might want a broad qualification or to learn a particular technique.
Level 4: You're an experienced hairdresser or barber and want to gain additional skills in colour correction.
You will be enrolled on a Study Programme which will include mandatory attendance on your vocational course and English and Maths if required following assessment, as well as engagement in work experience and enterprise activities throughout the duration of the course.
Assessment is continuous throughout the academic year and you will complete treatments on peers and clients alike. After each assessment you will be given feedback from your tutor to give you the knowledge required to make any improvements ready for summative assessments. When you are ready for final assessment you will be assessed in a practical environment as you complete the practical treatments on salon clients.
All units require you to complete and pass an online assessment relating to the essential knowledge and understanding for the theory aspect of the unit. You will be given the detailed information required to support you with research and fact-finding in preparation for revision for each of these online assessments.
