You will study 5 main themes which are: Network Operating System (MS Windows XP and MS Server 2003). Networking. Business management. Information transfer technologies (media design and production). Application design (Visual Basic programming and databases). The course covers the syllabuses for both the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate.

To enrol on this course you will need to have one of the following: 5 GCSEs at grade C in Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject with at least 1 A Level An AVCE Award A BTEC National Certificate/Diploma Access to HE or an equivalent qualification You will also need to have: A successful interview with your Course Coordinator A good reference from your most recent tutor

The course covers the syllabuses for both the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exploration qualifications. The CCNA qualification is included in the course. The MCTS can be sat externally.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you could progress onto the final year of a BSc Honours Degree in ICT at the Technology Innovation Centre (Birmingham City University) which offers a specific route to students from the Foundation Degree.
