Basis Course
The BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection has been established since 1978 to provide training and certification for sellers of agrochemicals and those giving advice on their use. An increasing number of farmers and managers are achieving this qualification to prove a high level of competency.
The course covers 8 modules:
- Integrated Crop Management, Growth and Development of Crops and Commercial Production.
- Recognition and Causes of Crop Disorders.
- Recognition, Biology and Control of Weeds.
- Recognition, Biology and Control of Pests.
- Recognition, Biology and Control of Diseases.
- Composition, Activity and Persistence of Crop Protection Chemical and Biological Agents.
- Application of Crop Protection Chemicals.
- Safe Use, Handling, Transport and Storage of Crop Protection Chemicals.
The examination is in 4 parts:
- Multi-choice Question Paper
- Practical Identification Test
- Project
- Field Station & Panel Viva.
Application Modules
All our pesticide-training modules are run over one day either on the farm or in a locally convenient venue. They will prepare candidates for NPTC assessment.
Application Modules:
- PA1 - Foundation Module - This module must be completed prior to any other module being taken.
- PA2 - Ground Crop Sprayer.
- PA3 - Broadcast Sprayer or Boom Sprayer (Horizontal or Vertical Plane) with or without air Air Assistance.
- PA4 - Pesticide Granule Applicator - Mounted or Trailed.
- PA6 - Hand Held Applicator.
- PA8 - Mixer/Loader.
- PA9 - Fogging, Misting and Smokes (including Formaldehyde).
- PA10 - Batch Dipping.
- PA11 - Seed Treating Equipment.
- PA12 - Application of Pesticides to Material as a Continuous Process via Conveyors, Roller Tables and Other Moving Equipment.
