Created in response to the rapid advancement of renewable energy applications, our MSc Batteries, Fuel Cells, and Energy Storage Systems will enable you to investigate technologies and systems of energy storage.You’ll have opportunities to learn about energy sector economies and major energy storage technologies, as well as how to make decisions in a complicated technical and economic environment. To inspire your individual path through our course, you’ll also have the option to choose from a range of engaging additional modules. These allow you to customise your degree to your preferred area of study and cover areas like wind and solar energy networks, electric automotive applications and mobile device applications.

About this course

How do you balance finite resources with infinite human requirements? From driving your car to powering industry, today’s world requires huge amounts of energy. This has created an increased need for renewable energy systems, and these systems require effective energy storage.Unique in the UK, our MSc Batteries, Fuel Cells, and Energy Storage Systems will teach you the principles of knowledge management, decision-making and design in energy storage systems and energy applications. Taught by experts in the field, this course is ideal if you’re interested in pursuing a career in technology change, research, or improvement of environment and human wellbeing.

A minimum of a 2:1 UK honours degree in either Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or a recognised equivalent international qualification. We'll also consider relevant work experience if you don't meet these requirements.
