About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 1/2 (E/F/G) or above is required.

Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19, who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

The units that you will study on your programme are: facial skin care to include cleanse, tone and moisturise and skin diagnosis. Hand care and manicure to cover filing painting, cuticle work and hand and arm massage. Day and evening make-up skills will be learnt and developed together with photographic make-up. Face painting skills will help to develop your artistic and creative capabilities and you will learn how to create several characters. Nail art will include dotting and striping, foils and transfers. Pedicure and foot care treatments will be covered. You will spend time every week working on reception to develop your communication and reception skills. Additional information

The emphasis is on ‘learning by doing’, and you will undertake a series of formative and summative practical assessments to assess your skill level. A range of written assignments will be completed throughout the programme and support will be given in your classes to allow you to do this. Level 1 assignments will be graded as a pass, merit or distinction.
