Beauty Therapy/Hairdressing - Level 1

You will need to have two GCSEs at Grade D - G or an Entry 3 qualification. An interest in hair and beauty is essential. You will need to have good communication skills, basic competency in literacy and numeracy and the ability to work as part of a team. Places will be offered subject to a successful interview.

This course is to enable students to progress onto a Level 2 qualification and it provides a great insight into hair and beauty.

• Prepare and maintain work areas
• Health and safety
• Salon reception duties
• Assisting with hair services and beauty treatments
• Shampooing and conditioning
• Basic styling of women’s hair
• Work experience in a vocational related area
• A Functional Skill

You will take part in practical sessions which will involve demonstrations and performing basic hair and beauty treatments. There will be some theory input for students to complete assignments and tests for this qualification.

On successful completion of this course you can apply to join the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course or Level 2 Hairdressing course.
