Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3

Suitable applicants who are able to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm, a professional manner and appearance and an aptitude for working with people.

NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or a recognised non-NVQ equivalent, plus a satisfactory interview where you must demonstrate commitment and self discipline towards study and assignment work. References from NVQ level 2 or prior qualification tutor and attendance and punctuality records will be taken into account. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent portfolio and assignment work should be taken to interview.

Educational visit(s) and competition work are normally available as well as a one week work placement.
Key Skills are an integral part of the course. Students are taught in commercially working clinics in college.

All students will study towards Key Skills certification.
All students will be required to undertake a work experience placement. The aim is to provide the students with the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in a real work environment.

Students will be continually assessed through a series of theoretical and practical skills plus external assessment and case studies. Additional evidence will be required through practical, written and oral assessment work.
Standards require students to work to a "commercially viable time"

Successful completion of NVQ3 Beauty Therapy can lead to entry into university - Foundation Degrees. Further study with part time alternative therapy courses e.g. reflexology.
Possible careers include beauty therapist in a salon/health resort/health club/cruise ship, demonstrator, sales representative, equipment/product trainer.
